'Inspiring People'

'Inspiring People' is a series of paintings of people who have achieved something remarkable in their lives on philosophical, religious, social or spiritual level.

The choice of the theme origins in my own search for meaning in life. The selection is therefore a personal choice. They are all people whose vision mean something to me and who have had an impact on my thinking and being.

Inspiring People 2013 - ...

	The paintings show a different reality than merely a realistic portrait. They give the illusion of a certain depth, a perspective that is interrupted again and again by certain elements, like background colors that extend sometimes behind or on the figure, or a plane or line that is interwoven with the portrait. The colored planes and lines frequently return and create windows in time and space. They represent different meanings and create an opening to other levels of life and a different dimension of being.
	By adding these elements to the paintings, I create a certain strangeness, allowing the viewer to ask questions and to look at the paintings in another way. The experience is therefore different for each viewer. The person in the portrait remains, but the meaning given to it, is decided by the personal experience of the observer. This way every painting is only the illusion of what the viewer wants to see and it encourages him to wonder.
